our mission

To provide Christ-centred education to prepare children for life both temporal and eternal.

Kia whai oranga mo nga tamariki i raro i te maru o te Karaiti mo ake tonu atu.

At Sonrise Christian School, our mission is to provide a Christ-centered education that prepares our students for both their temporal and eternal lives. Our holistic approach to education ensures that our students grow academically, spiritually, and personally, as we guide them in understanding the importance of their faith in everyday life. By integrating biblical principles into our curriculum, we empower our students to develop a strong spiritual foundation, making them aware of their eternal purpose and helping them cultivate a lasting relationship with God.

In line with our mission, we strive to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment that fosters the development of well-rounded individuals who are equipped to face life's challenges with grace, resilience, and wisdom. Our students are taught the value of kindness, compassion, and responsibility, enabling them to make a positive impact on the world around them. As we prepare our students for their eternal journey, we emphasize the importance of critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication, equipping them with the skills they need to navigate their temporal lives while staying true to their eternal purpose.

our mission

With the seamless flow of learning from Primary through to Years 7-8 our students begin to explore the wider world and further strengthen their self-identity.

The intermediate years establish important foundations for future learning.

Building our LIFE values of Love, Integrity, Faithfulness and Excellence through service to others also contributes to strengthening resilience and empathy while preparing students to be ready to explore and change the world. Teaching from the principle of Manaakitanga our teachers model respect for language and culture, demonstrate compassion, integrity and trust ensuring that they care for the students as culturally located people – knowing who they are. Core curriculum is taught with excellence and with new opportunities to learn through visits to technology classes and changes in sport levels this brings new learning areas for our students to discover their God-given gifts and talents.
