A Personal Testimony.
Much of education today is child centred and child focused. While this may seem to be well founded I believe that we need to be Christ centred and Christ focused and with this basis we show children how Christ is relevant in everything we do. Not just by going to church on Sunday, but in every aspect of our lives. This can be done partly through Christian education which shows Christ is in everything we do.

As I have moved further into Christian Education I have learned of it’s wider implications. I have learned that all education systems have undergirding beliefs. No education is neutral. This opinion is shared by many educators today, not just Christians. The undergirding beliefs of Christian education is that God is the Creator of the universe and as such has control of all things.

Children need to have a firm basis on which to start their lives. We don’t send raw recruits to fight a war without any training. We train them up for a period of time then send them forth. Why do we then expect our children to be salt and light in a hostile environment without proper training? I feel we expect them to do things we would not do ourselves. When they have a firm basis of knowledge they have a much better start.

I believe that children need to be able to look at all things from a biblical perspective. There is a catch phrase that is very popular at the moment; ‘What would Jesus do.’ I think children also need to be able to think, ‘what does the bible say’ about this or that. Christian education should not be just one period of ‘R.E.’ but throughout every aspect of their schooling.

Why Christian education? So that we can train up mighty men and women of God who will challenge the status quo of the world and not be afraid to speak out what they believe and have the knowledge to back up what those beliefs.

I believe that parents should be able to have the choice of secular or Christian education.
