Christ Centred Education
Sonrise Christian School offers your child a Christ centred education, where knowledge and understanding are developed in the light of God's Word, with an awareness that we live in a world created, ordered and sustained by God himself.
Education helps us to learn about the world, and helps us to interpret the world. As God created the world, we learn about Him from the things He has made. God also shows himself to us through the Bible. A true and complete understanding of the world that we live in can occur only when God is the centre of the education process.
Sonrise Christian School aims to help its students understand the created world in which they live, and to understand the fallen nature of the world and mankind. The school aims to help students desire to respond to God the Creator and seek their place in His world, serving Him with whatever skills and abilities He has given them.
The motto of the school is "Educating for Eternity"...’Te Matauranga Motungakore’. This reflects the schools orientation to the eternal consequences of our lives. The aim of the school is to assist parents in their responsibility to guide their children to spiritual maturity, and in particular to choose to follow Jesus as their personal Saviour.
Personal Excellence
Sonrise Christian School offers a structured and ordered classroom environment. Children are given the opportunity to reach their personal potential, and urged towards personal excellence as part of their stewardship of their God-given talents. They are encouraged to aim for excellence in all areas - academic achievement, culture, arts and sports.
Caring Family Environment
The family is a vital part of God’s plan, and so a caring family environment is an important part of our school. Interaction between all ages group is encouraged, in a warm friendly but respectful atmosphere.
Innovative Christian Curriculum
The School uses the Interact curriculum developed in New Zealand. This incorporates the curriculum requirements of the New Zealand State curriculum while remaining thoroughly God centred.
Each term, a characteristic of God is taken as a focus, and school activities and modules follow from this.
