Dear Parents/Caregivers
Tena Koutou Katoa
Greetings to you all
A very warm welcome back to all our students and staff to the start of a new term.
A very special welcome to our newest New Entrant, Piata Tibble-Tamati and her family to the Sonrise community. We hope and trust that you have all had a good holiday, well rested as Term 2 is going to be another busy term.
This term has 11 weeks compared to 9 weeks in term 1. The term finishes on 2 July.
During week 6 we will be reviewed by the Education Review Office. The review officers will be on site from Monday 24 – Thursday 27 May.
In week 9 we will be having our student-led conferences/E Portfolios and during week 11 we will be holding our second parent/teacher interviews to report on student progress.
You will also receive your first written report on your child’s progress and achievement for the first 6 months of school.
Our theme for this term is ‘God is Forgiving’. Our class topic is ‘The Cycle Way’. See overview attached. Each class will cover the topic according to the level of their students.
Teacher Only Day
This Friday 23 April we will be having our Teacher Only Day. School will not be open for instruction for students.
Behaviour Management Plan
The staff had professional development with the Behaviour Advisor (GSE) on Monday after school. The staff will now continue to work out procedures around specific behaviours. This will be one of our focuses at our Teacher Only Day this Friday. You will be kept informed of the changes to the behaviour policy and procedures.

School Banking
School banking will resume this week. If you would like your child to be part of the banking programme at school:
- Mrs. Ju Mokomoko, Hunter Mokomoko (yr 9) and Keegan Martin (yr 8) run the banking programme.
- Banking is every Wednesday morning between 8.00-8.45am in the school library.
- New accounts is always welcomed.
The idea of the banking programme is not about the amount of money being banked, but it is about getting our students into the habit of saving.
