Dear Parents/Caregivers
Tena Koutou Katoa
Greetings to you all
As you know our theme for the term is ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ and the classrooms are really reflecting this with colourful displays of artwork and writing. Many of the classes have been studying poetry and have been creating their own in a number of different styles. Room 5 has been looking at the Japanese Haiku. Here are some examples:
The chainsaw slices
The tree falls
It stands no chance
Simba Gair
White puppy at school
New pet for a teacher
A crowd of students
Jolianne Schokker
Deer standing alone
Struck by an intruding bullet
Eyes closed forever
Drae Calles
Cross country season has begun. Mr Russell has marked out a track around the school and the students are running every day in preparation for the two main cross country events later in the term. On Friday 3rd September most of the school will be travelling to Tiniroto for the Small and Rural Schools Cross Country. Then on the following Wednesday Mr Russell will be taking a small team of runners to the Interschool Cross Country at the Showgrounds. Notices regarding these events will be sent home in the next week or two. Encourage your children to do some extra training at home. It really pays off on the day.
On Friday 10th September we are planning to have a Grandparents Afternoon. This will be an opportunity for grandparents to join with their mokopuna in an afternoon of fun and sharing. More details closer to the day.
