Dear Parents/Caregivers
Tena Koutou Katoa
Greetings to you all
Cross Country on Friday
This Friday most of the school will be travelling by bus to the cross country races at Tiniroto.
All children attending MUST be at school by 8.30am as the buses will be leaving as soon as possible after that. Buses will return to school between 2.30pm and 3pm. Children will need to bring shorts, shoes, school top, warm clothes, a coat, a towel, drink and lunch. There will be food available for purchase at the course. If you are coming by car to support your child then parking will be below the Tiniroto Tavern (please follow the signs).
Children not attending the cross country will be at school as normal. The postponement date for the event is Friday 17 September.
Grandparents’ Afternoon
On Friday 10 September we are inviting all grandparents to a Grandparents’ Afternoon at school. It will begin at 12 noon with an opportunity for the grandparents to bring along a picnic lunch to share with their grandchildren. Following lunch there will be some songs and a time to visit classrooms and watch some sports events. The afternoon will finish at 2.20pm.
Could you please pass on this invitation and ask grandparents to contact the school by next Wednesday if they are able to attend.
Postie Plus Donation
Good news! As part of the uniform agreement the school has with Postie Plus, they have donated $606.65 to the Friends of Sonrise.
First Aid Course
Last Saturday six members of staff attended a first aid course here at school. The course covered all the scenarios we are likely to come across at school or on activities such as camp. The course was very well presented by Trish Atkins from SAFE and as a bonus she checked our First Aid kits at school. A very worthwhile day!
Speeches
The students from Year 4 up have been working very hard on their speeches. The finalists will be decided on Thursday and parents and friends of the competitors will be invited to attend the finals on Tuesday morning at 11:00am.
A BIG heartfelt thank you to Ju Mokomoko for coaching netball, and Simeon Whitley, Renae Lolohea and Geoff Macpherson for coaching football these past few months. Without their fantastic commitment and coaching skills we would not have been able to field the teams that we have this year. The children have all improved in their sporting skills and appreciated the opportunity to be part of a team. Thank you too, to all the parents who supported these teams and their coaches. Well done!
