Dear Parents/Caregivers
Tena Koutou Katoa
Greetings to you all
Firstly, we have had an excellent review with the Education Review Officers on site last week. At this stage we are awaiting the report for the school community, but I can inform you that in all areas, we are achieving at a very high level. We give God all the honor and glory.
A very special warm welcome to our newest students, Tyla and Michael Tupaea! It always warms my heart to see how welcoming our students are towards new students to our school.
Just something to think about Mathematics …….
Mathematics proclaims that God is unchangeable. Of all studies, Mathematics is unique. Plants and animals are born, they grow, they bear fruit and multiply, they become old and die; however, number concepts are not born, they do not grow, they do not multiply, neither do they become old and die. Customs change, languages change, times change, our bodies constantly change, everything is subject to change…….except Mathematics.
- God invented Mathematics.
- God at various times, commanded people to count, measure and record their findings.
- The consistency of mathematical truths demonstrates the orderliness, precision and consistency of God.
- Man’s creativity, like God’s, often requires some mathematical understanding. God designed man to be creative.
Time to get excited about Mathematics!

Sexuality Curriculum Consultation
On 3rd May we organized a meeting to consult with our parents of years 5-10 (Rooms 3, 4 and 5) students on what parents would like us to teach or not teach in this area of the curriculum. Unfortunately only about 20% of parents attended this meeting. Even though we were few in numbers, there was good discussion around it. For the majority of the parents present, they felt it was an area that they preferred the school to teach. For your perusal I have attached a draft plan that I had worked on and this still needs to be developed further. For some of you this might be something that you want to do yourself in your home and that is perfectly fine. Your child is under no obligation to attend these lessons. I am noticing that menstruation has started for the younger girls i.e. years 5 and 6 class. As this term is drawing to a close, further consultation will occur in term 3. We will be keeping you fully informed of what will be taught and by whom. In the meantime, peruse the draft.
