Dear Parents/Caregivers
Tena Koutou Katoa
Greetings to you all
Last Friday was well spent as we were able to accomplish everything that we had set out to do at our ‘Teachers Only Day’. The staff worked hard and this helped us to set clear goals that we wanted to achieve especially around behaviour management.
Behaviour Management Plan
The Board has worked through the first draft on the new behaviour management policy. The staff have been working on procedures to implement that is fair to all, manageable and consistent. In assembly, yesterday, I presented the first stage of our revised behaviour management plan (BMP) to our students. Please talk to your children about the BMP.
I have included a draft BMP.
Sexuality Curriculum Consultation
The NZ Curriculum pg. 22 Health & Physical Education:
‘the seven key areas of learning are: mental health, sexuality education, food & nutrition, body care & physical safety, physical activity, sport studies and outdoor education’
Note: it is expected that schools will consult with their communities when developing health & sexuality education programmes.
On Monday 3 May, parents of students in rooms 3, 4 and 5 are invited to a consultation meeting at school at 6.30pm to discuss the sexuality curriculum. I will share the school policy and I have invited the school nurse to do the presentation. This meeting is about what you would like us to teach or not to teach in this area of the health curriculum.
